Today..

Today my parents are visiting a specialty cancer hospital. We are all hoping for some encouraging news. I've had bronchitis (again), but I'm feeling better today. I have a lot to work on this week:
  • Set up senior pictures for Gabrielle
  • See that her dress gets altered
  • Clean up the house (as soon as I can breathe again)
  • Finish my last units of a computer course

I'm thinking about trying to put together a piece of special music for Mother's Day. It won't be easy since I don't have a piano in the house, but it's worth a try at least. So, anyway, those are the projects of the week.

Happy Birthday, Princess

Even at eight, you'll always be my baby! :)

Amanda and Shane's Wedding

My cousin got married this weekend. She and Shane met when they were sixteen and have been dating for six years. And last Saturday, they got married.
My cousin Kristen and I were honorary bridesmaids. (See last pic. Somehow these pictures posted completely backwards.) She asked us to wear formal black dresses. I knew immediately which one I wanted. Kristen had to search for a while to find one she liked and ended up in polka dots.

All her bridesmaids wore clover green with bright pink sashes and carried bright pink flowers. It was a long day. Kristen and I got to the church at one. We took pictures until the wedding began at four. Then the wedding was about half an hour long. Then they took pictures for another hour and a half while the guests waited at the reception.

Finally, we got to the reception, the bridal party was announced, and we got to eat. It was the first time I had eaten all day, except for a quick snack on the way to the church! My mom had been worried she wouldn't be able to go, but she did really well through the ceremony and reception.

It was a fairly emotional day, too, of course. She's my first younger cousin to get married. And even had all had plenty of time to get used to the idea of them getting married, it still brought back memories of her going to Grandma's with her hair in a braid and singing off-key duets with her. Yeah, I teared up. :)

But I know she's happy. And that's the important thing. And we're all happy for her.

Update....

My mom went back for chemo today. They were going to reevaluate her, then do her treatment. The CT scan showed that the cancer hasn't shrunk at all. If anything, it's larger. The doctor recommended that she stop the treatments. Her reaction to them is so severe and she is not responding to them. She's not sure what she is going to do yet, but I feel like she'll stop taking them. It's a hard, hard thing. I was hoping that there would even be the slightest improvement, but there isn't. Please keep praying for Mama and the rest of our family.

Happy Resurrection Day!

Luke 24:1-8

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " Then they remembered his words.
